What a wonderful year it has been at Cheadle Hulme Primary School (CHPS)!
We are so proud of all the amazing things we have done and learned together.
From celebrating our first Ofsted Inspection, to dressing up as our favourite characters for WBD and holding debates with politicians in UKPW, there have been many memorable moments.
As we prepare to say goodbye for the summer holidays, we’d like to share just some of the highlights from the Summer Term with you.
Exciting transformations lead to lots of fun!
We are incredibly grateful to everybody that has contributed to our fundraising events over the past year. Thanks to your donations, we were able to fund some exciting new projects!
After the Easter break, the children were so excited when they came back to find new playground markings, a new iSports Wall and an outdoor reading shed.
We held an opening ceremony with local MP Mary Robinson and members of our Pupil Parliament proudly told her about their work towards making school the best it could be.
The children have loved using the new playground markings to make their playtimes even better, running, skipping, and hopping their way through different games.
Another new welcome addition came with our Outdoor Reading Shed. Our Department for Education ensured that the shed was fully stocked with a brilliant range of books for pupils to enjoy during their lunchtimes.
Pupils and staff have had a lot of fun using the iSports Wall too, learning and exercising all in one with fun games!
Pupils ‘walk in their shoes’ for the Together Trust
Our new playground markings arrived at the perfect time as pupils prepared to take a ‘walk in their shoes’ for the Together Trust.
As a school, we raised £161 and walked a whopping 376 miles – that’s almost twice the distance from Manchester to London!
Thank you to the children for your efforts, and to the PTA for the playground upgrade which helped us keep track of our progress!
Spanish with LCH
We were so lucky to have some fantastic Spanish workshops with Year 9 language ambassadors from Laurus Cheadle Hulme (LCH).
The LCH students led interactive and fun workshops with pupils across the school.
The children learned some colours and numbers, then played games with their new knowledge.

Pre-School go to Reddish Vale Farm
Pre-School had a fabulous time when they spent a day at Reddish Vale Farm in June.
They loved feeding and handling the animals as well as learning all about them.
Showing impeccable manners and outstanding behaviour throughout the day, they represented CHPS so well and were all superstars!
Reception go to Lower Moss Wood
Reception also had an exciting visit in June when they went to Lower Moss Wood.
As they walked around the nature reserve, they learned all about pond life and spotted lots of wild animals!
They were so inspired by their visit that they explored the lifecycle of a frog back in the classroom.
Year 2 celebrate the end of SATs
Year 2 have been working so hard this year for their SATs, so once they were finished it called for celebration!
They had a wonderful afternoon of playing in Bruntwood Park and eating ice lollies.
We are so proud of all the children for their hard work and mature attitudes whilst completing these assessments, well done!
Year 3 discover at the Science & Industry Museum
On a recent trip to the Science and Industry Museum, Year 3 had fun exploring interactive exhibits.
Working together, they took part in a variety of scientific demonstrations and illusions to explore light and reflective surfaces.
Year 3 were so enthusiastic about the trip, they continued their learning in the classroom by investigating how different surfaces reflect light.
Year 3 and 4 play with the Halle
The children in Years 3-4 had the brilliant opportunity to play with the Hallé Orchestra at the Bridgewater Hall in July after receiving professional music tuition throughout the year.
This is part of our school’s commitment to the Arts and giving the children opportunities to perform to live audiences.
We were blown away by their confidence and beaming with pride as we watched them perform in such a prestigious venue!
A Superb Sports Day
It was a brilliant day of competition at this year’s Sports Day as pupils competed to see who would be the winning House.
Despite having to change a number of planned activities due to poor weather, the children (and many parents/carers) still gave it their all!
This year’s champions were announced in a whole school assembly, congratulations Fortius!
Thank you to everyone that was able to support this year’s event.
Year 4 go to Malham!
On our first ever three-day residential, Year 4 went to Malham in the Yorkshire Dales.
On the first day, they enjoyed a scenic walk around Goredale Scar and Janet’s Foss.
While they were at Goredale Scar, they spotted some interesting limestone rock formations which they studied in a classroom session later on.
The next day, they walked up to Malham Cove and used maps to lead the way.
The children all impressed us with their resilience and attitude to the walk.
They even applied the knowledge and vocabulary they learned from the limestone session the day before!
After a delicious picnic lunch, they headed into the woods for some minibeast hunting.
Later on, they put their new map reading abilities to the test with some geocaching.
Using their new skills to orienteer around the local area, they raced to six secret locations.
As a final activity before the coach home, pupils used compasses and waypoints to solve some riddles around Malham.
Year 4 had an amazing trip and we left with plenty of smiles, lots of laughs, and lots of sleepy children!
Pre-School enjoy an end of year treat
Pre-School were so excited for their trip to the ‘CHPS Cinema’ as their end of year treat!
Every child was given a golden ticket to exchange for a choice of different snacks to enjoy while watching the film.
They had the best time watching Minions together, what a fun end to a great year!
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the whole CHPS community for making this academic year the success it has been.

Thank you to all of our teaching and support staff for your endless passion and commitment, going above and beyond to do whatever it takes.
And finally, thank you to our amazing pupils for doing your best each and every day, it is phenomenal to see how much you have achieved in the past 12 months.
